Providing help year round

Pat DePrima and Elaine Stolarski are partners of Life’s Gifts Unfolded, Inc.  Pat has been volunteering at Cornerstone for over 11 years.  She helps out with answering phone requests for the Hambone Express and even delivers the meals for Christmas Day!  For the past five years Pat & Elaine plan a special fundraiser to help provide meals and goods for the Buffalo City Mission.  This year is no different!!

The pioneering pair held an open house at Life’s Gifts Unfolded to help raise funds for gifts for the women and children of Cornerstone Manor.  The cost for the day was $35 which included basket raffles and food.  Those who attended the open house received pampering services which included reflexology, hand paraffin treatments, foot detox, reiki, and cranio sacral therapy.  In addition, they received demonstrations in acupuncture treatments, naturopath consultations and creative art expressions.  The event was a great success with twenty participants and seven practitioners that volunteered their services for the day.

“We were very pleased with the turn out and the generosity of all those that participated.  Last year we had an open house in December and raised $600,” says DePrima.  “This year we exceeded our goal for 2011 by raising $750.”  They purchased toys, pj’s, and children and women’s clothing.  These generous women help out year round, as well.  As part of their ongoing “Pay-It-Forward” initiative they deliver pastries and breads to food pantries, the City Mission and Cornerstone.  In addition to the fundraising activities with one $750 donation to Cornerstone, we have donated $250 to the City Mission, $150 to the Food Bank and $200 to the Southside Community Table.

June Cookout served many new-comers to our facility and also many familiar faces.

It was a great night with good food, good company and great drum circle. Together we gathered just over $70 for local food banks.  When this money was delivered, the shelves were almost bare.  Many thanks to everyone who participated.
